Topic: Policies of multiculturalism in times of crisis
At the beginning of the century, liberal theory and practice changed the paradigm of a multicultural vision of the world. “Muscular” liberalism, faced with waves of populism, as well as the strengthening of modern autocracies and fearing ever more massive migrations, suppressed the dream of a society of ethno-cultural diversity. Nationalism and a strengthened national state did not suspend the legal achievements of the protection of ethno-cultural identities developed in the second half of the 20th century, but they did not adequately respond to the challenges. The pandemic, dealing with global security and energy problems and the fear of an economic crisis further contributed to the change of the neoliberal multicultural paradigm.
